Dover-Kohl Begins the Comprehensive Master Plan Project Process for Hammond, Louisiana


Dover-Kohl conducted a charrette to create a vision for the Comprehensive Master Plan for Hammond, Louisiana. The charrette was well attended, the public response to the initial vision was extremely positive, and drafting of the new, overarching policy document is underway. Dover-Kohl’s “Design at All Scales” approach to comprehensive planning was featured at a recent workshop for the Florida Department of Community Affairs entitled “Comprehensive Planning for the 21st Century”, sponsored by the Congress for the New Urbanism.

James Dougherty receives Award of Excellence from the American Society of Architecture Illustrators


James Dougherty, Director of Design at Dover-Kohl, competed in ASAI’s 24th annual Architecture in Perspective competition, which attracts illustrators from around the world. James produced the drawing as part of Dover, Kohl & Partner’s design work for Hudson, a new mixed-use village located in Montgomery, Alabama being developed by Urban Villages.

County Commission Approves Lee County DR/GR Plan with a 4-0 Vote


Dover, Kohl & Partners is working with Lee County, Florida on a plan for the 83,000 acre DR/GR. The Density Reduction/ Groundwater Resource Area in the southeast of the county hosts neighborhoods, mines, farms, endangered species and public supply wells. On October 29, 2009 the Lee County Commission voted 4-0 to transmit the Plan to the Department of Community Affairs. After DCA comments have been incorporated final adoption of the plan by the Commission is scheduled for March 2010. The Dover-Kohl team is working now on creating the specific Land Development Regulations for the Transferable Development Right program.

Osprey Bayfront Master Plan Submitted for Rezoning


The Osprey Bayfront Master Plan has been submitted to Sarasota County for rezoning under the Planned Mixed-Use Infill (PMI) Ordinance – the first project of its kind!

Glenwood Park is featured on NRDC Switchboard and CNU 18 Video


The National Resource Defense Council's Smart Growth Program Director Kaid Benfield has posted a piece on his blog highlighting the neighborhood of Glenwood Park in Atlanta, Georgia.

Additionally, Glenwood Park is prominently featured in the new video that announces CNU18, a gathering next summer in Atlanta that will be co-produced by the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) and the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Richmond Downtown Plan wins APA Outstanding Plan Award


The Richmond Downtown Plan was recently awarded the 2009 Outstanding Plan Award from the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association. Dover, Kohl & Partners has been working with the City of Richmond and the Richmond community since 2007 to shape the vision for Downtown and to create a clear implementation strategy to achieve their goals.
