A steering committee of 25 members has endorsed the Hammond Comprehensive Plan and voted Thursday to forward it to the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission for adoption. The first hearing is scheduled for April 7.
The Steering Committee represents a broad array of interests: representatives from the development community, architectural community, local clergy, the local Chapter of the Sierra Club, Downtown Development District, Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Historic District. The endorsement meeting follows a process that involved an extensive amount of public involvement including a one-week charrette and fourteen Steering Committee meetings. Steering Committee Chairman, Jeffrey Smith, AIA, said of the plan, “The plan is very good work and I look forward to its adoption.”
