DKP at CNU 20: Art Room, Art of the New Urbanism, Charles Barrett Award, FBCI Award

This past weekend, the Congress for the New Urbanism celebrated its twentieth gathering in West Palm Beach, Florida. During this milestone year for CNU, Dover-Kohl also has reasons to Celebrate:

The Art Room workshops, organized by James Dougherty, were very well attended and received numerous compliments. They featured hands-on teaching by leading practitioners including our own Andrew Georgiadis and Kenneth Garcia.

The Art of the New Urbanism Exhibit was a big success and featured over 200 works from new urbanist artists and designers throughout the history of the movement. The exhibit included Dover-Kohl works by James Dougherty, Andrew Georgiadis, and Kenneth Garcia, as well as DKP collaborators such as Marice Chael, Steve Price, Eduardo Castillo, and Jennifer Garcia.

James Dougherty, Director of Design at Dover-Kohl, received the Charles A. Barrett Memorial Award for Continuing Excellence in Architecture and Urban Design. The award is presented by the Florida Chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism every two years in memory of the late designer & illustrator Charles Barrett.

The Form-Based Code for Bradenton, FL received the 2012 Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Land Trust Form-Based Codes Award from the Form-Based Codes Institute.

Jason King and John Norquist presented the Groves Award on behalf of the Transect Codes Council at the Friday morning plenary.

Dover-Kohl also participated in several other CNU sessions, including Two Traditions of Latin American Urbanism, and the New Urbanism in El Paso Open Source Session.
