Montgomery Curb Market's Redesign Moves Forward

In March of this year, Dover-Kohl assisted the City in a workshop to plan the future of Madison Avenue near the Cramton Bowl. The renovated football stadium and new Sportsplex facility are likely to spur private investment on the corridor. DKP worked with residents, stakeholders, and City leaders to envision new mixed-use, commercial, hotel and residential opportunities in a walkable urban format in keeping with the adopted transect zones of the area.

One of the recommendations from the workshop was the renovation and redesign of the Montgomery Curb Market. Long a mainstay of downtown Montgomery, the Curb Market is one of the oldest farmers markets in Alabama. Though many long time residents are frequent customers, the market has failed to attract new patrons, partly due to the market's relatively humble appearance. The redesign is meant to create a new frontage with a welcoming entrance and seating area to make the Market more visible and attractive to new customers. The city, which owns the building, is now moving forward with the redesign, and hopes to have construction completed by next spring.
