The Bridge as Public Space: Plan El Paso cited in a recent TEDx talk by Carlos Gallinar

Carlos Gallinar, El Paso’s Deputy Director for City Development and Planning, recently gave a TEDx talk about the healing and humane benefits that could be realized with a true bi-national civic space bridging the border between El Paso and Ciudad Juarez. Such a civic space was envisioned in George Kessler’s historic 1925 City Plan for El Paso. This vision was reinvigorated in Plan El Paso, the update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan produced by Dover, Kohl & Partners, and adopted in 2013.

Jason King Discusses Form-Based Coding at Miami Beach United Speaker's Bureau

Jason King will present "Form Based Coding, Master Plans and Alton Road" on Monday, February 3rd at 6PM at the Miami Beach Golf Course on 2301 Alton Road. Big plans are in the works for the City's main arterial, Alton Road, and this could provide an opportunity to improve the City's overall livability beyond the limits of the right-of-way. At the same time the City is pursuing initiatives intended to improve walkability of the City's north-south avenues, enhance the multimodalism of its east-west streets, and mitigate the impact of the Convention Center redevelopment. Jason has lived on the Beach for eight years; he combines his skills working around the country with his knowledge as a resident to discuss the island's opportunities. Also be sure to attend the next Speaker's Bureau when John Torti, Torti Gallas & Partners, presents "Avoiding Conflicts Between Residents and Businesses" on Tuesday February 11th at 6PM at the same location.
